In 2017 Srikant was giving his 12th and Dinkar was giving his 10th NIOS board exams in Kerala. I saw that a large number of boys and girls gave the exams with them. These are the children who fail the state board exams, children who fall out of the education system (65% children fail to come out of 12th standard across India). I felt great joy looking at them. They looked happy, healthy and very strong. They had been relentlessly 'educated' for 10-12 years and had escaped unscathed. These were the 'failures' who were pillars of strength when Kerala faced its devastating floods.
Why should we send our children to school to have all their strengths systematically taken away from them? Homeschooling is probably the middle path for being strong and not a 'failure'.
