Neighborhood microschools

Yesterday I was at a friend's place and 6-8 children came into the house. Two of them were my friend's daughters and the others were children from the neighbourhood. All these children go to the same alternative school near my friend's house. My friend and the parents of the other children had all shifted into this area to be near the school they had chosen. I thought that it was a big missed opportunity. It would have been so much easier for these children to be homeschooled, to play and study in their neighborhood under the supervision of their mothers/ fathers who were at home. I think it is time that someone facilitates the starting of neighborhood microschools in India. Perhaps Asli Shiksha will have to take up this challenge.
