Exploring Parenthood

If you do an Internet search for parenting, you are flooded with advice from thousands of authoritative sources. Parenting appears difficult in these bewildering times of information overload and people marketing all sorts of quick-fix products and services. However, it is clear to anyone who has done the research (or bought some of the products/services) that there are no simple rules that parents can implement to make their jobs easy. So, what do we do? At Asli Shiksha, we think that having a long, slow conversation about parenting can bring up some new perspectives.

Who is it for?

The online workshop, to be conducted over a Zoom call, is meant for parents interested in contributing to the upbringing of their children (instead of outsourcing it wholly to ‘experts’). It is open to FIVE mother/father pairs of participants.

Cost:

The workshop fee for a mother/father couple is Rs. 3,600. The cost of a copy of the two ‘Learning to Learn’ books published by Asli Shiksha, (worth Rs. 450) is included in the fee.

Date and Time:

Sunday, 18th June, 2023. 10:00 AM to 5 PM. (With a lunch break between 1 PM to 2 PM)

Facilitators:

Arun Elassery, an alumnus of IIT Kharagpur, is the founder director of Asli Shiksha. He has three decades of experience in Engineering, e-learning and Education. His books on "Learning to Learn" seek to bring a fresh perspective to learning and education.

Kanti Ratna, with a masters degree in Computer Science, chose to remain a housewife, who, with her tireless and cheerful hard work, kept (and keeps) her husband and three children firmly anchored to the ground. Arun and Kanti’s three children were home-schooled.
